Four new pieces from recent months, one depicting St Mary the Virgin Church, another with a view of the thatched cottages at the centre of the village. A third was a recent commission and a fourth inspired by the ending of the recent drought.

St Mary the Virgin Church
This is my interpretation of a snowy view of the church. I regularly walk on a footpath through the churchyard, which leads to a lane down to a friend's house.
The earliest parts of the church date from the late 13th early 14th century, but it was largely rebuilt in the 15th century. The north aisle was added in the 16th century. The church is noted by Pevsner for the Easter Sepulchre. The pulpit is built of wooden panelling formerly part of the rood screen of 1544.

A Wayside Winter
This piece was inspired by a photograph taken from my window on a snowy morning last winter. It shows Church House and Wayside, two of the thatched cottages that are a feature of the village, The tyre tracks were made by a local farmer's Landrover taking feed to livestock.
After the harvest
This piece was a recent commission from a friend and neighbour. Observing the surrounding parched landscape after an early harvest, we worked together on choices of colour and content and we were both well pleased with the outcome.
This piece now has pride of place on their living room wall.

WHen the rain returns
This larger piece was inspired after the return of rain to the moorland and peatlands of North Dartmoor after the recent drought. The drought conditions lasted for nearly 3 months during which time the colours of the landscape changed to parched browns and yellows.
