Sibilant Star Song

Sibilant Star Song

I wake at midnight.

A window glow is parting

the soft darkness.

Stars. I see stars.

Wrapping a shawl

around my shoulders,

I gravitate to the light.

The icy dew –

a slap to the senses;

widens my eyes.

I become dizzy.

My cells spiralling

under the Milky Way.

I am shining too.

My starry arms orbit

my own constellation.

One thing I know with certainty.

I have never loved myself

this much before.
